Google Buzz?

“PLEASE! someone send me an invite to google Mail/Buzz/Wave!”
This is one of the pleas that plague the internet every time Google unleash a service with four letters in it’s title. I know because I’m usually the one thats pleading.

So this week saw the official launch of Google Buzz, most of you are probably thinking “what the frig is google buzz?”

WELL…our blue, red, yellow and green coloured overlords describe it as:

“A place to share updates, photos, videos and more. Start conversations about the things you find interesting”

That sounds nice, a bit like a lovely party where everyone participates in show and tell, in reality, that’s not the case.

I would describe it as the confused result of a one night stand between Twitter and Facebook that knows where you are at all times.

I logged in and it knew exactly where I was “buzzing” from, it showed me a list of updates from people around me (including a map just incase I wanted to visit them). This is the first major issue, I live in an area of Leeds that is basically like a commune for Jeremy Kyle guests, the updates aren’t gonna be great and if I put up something like “just got a new game for my xbox” there’s probably gonna be muddy rockport prints in my living room before I’ve closed the browser window.

I signed up to google wave in haste and I’m really not sure what to do with it yet, I did the same with buzz and I think it’s just gonna sit there like that thighmaster that’s under the bed in your spare room.

I’ve posted my profile below, feel free to follow me and buzz me how you’re using it.

I never though that, google wave is good for collaboration work but like most google stuff, people will take full advantage 5 years later
